I made my first pie yesterday. Well, I have made those chocolate pudding pies before, but those don't count because I buy the oreo crust and the filling is just the instant pudding. Anyways, I had 2 full Costco bags of apples left over from girls camp and seeing how I can't just sit down and eat an apple, I knew a lot of them would go bad. So, I had the brilliant idea of making an apple pie. I went and got my mom's recipe (my mom's pies are the best for those that don't know) and her apple peeler corer slicer. I went to work making the pie crust, with my 5 little helpers of course. Then I started putting the apples through my moms magical apple tool, which the kids loved. I made the apple mixture, put the top layer of crust on, pieced it back together after Paige tore some of the crust off, and put it in the oven. I tried it last night and it actually turned out!!! I was surprised and so happy! It did have a lot of juices inside that I had to pore out, but other than that it was delicious. The flavor was so good and the crust was so flakey....but the real question is....is it worth ALL the work???

It looks like it was worth all the work to me!
Delicious! I'm totally impressed, I have never made a pie either.
Amazing! Looks delish!
Yum! I think sometimes it's just nice to have things like this in the "experience bank" One more thing you can say you've never done that! Now that you have made one, they just get easier after that!
My question with stuff like this is...Is it worth the calories?...usually...YES!
YOU TOTALLY ARE BETTY! That was the nicer of the two nick names you got last week. That Pie looks AMAZING! It is so yummy and worth it when you finally get to taste the pie, but holy cow, it is a lot of work. Way to go!!! Next up, Raspberry pie??!!?? :)
Looks yummy!
I love making pies... there's just something about the whole process that just feels like a big accomplishment. :) I wrote a silly tutorial on it awhile ago http://aprongirls.blogspot.com/2009/03/easy-as-pie.html, but that's just for the crust. If your filling always is too runny, put some flour on your apples... it should thicken the sauce a bit. :)
Impressive! I love apple pie!
Yes, it is worth it for YOU to do it. Me on the other hand...It wouldn't be.
I can't believe you made a pie! I've never made one because all I've ever heard from my mom is what a mess they are to make (yet she's made millions of them!) So she scared me off!! You've given me new hope that maybe, just maybe, I can make one myself!
Nice Work Betty Baker! Can you send me a slice??
Mmmm looks yummy good job. See you can do it all!
Wow ~ I am VERY impressed!
