The Oscars

I have a lot to post, but I am waiting on some pics to be shared, so for now you get a dose of the Oscars.

We love movies here at The Hoard, so of course we love the Oscars. Even Trent got in on the action.

And I had a great time watching the red carpet show and Oscars with Brooke. Always fun to make comments back and forth.
And here are my favorite dresses from the night. Loved Michelle William's whole look, Octavia Spencer's was my absolute favorite, and I loved Penelope Cruz's was just flowey, which I know is not a word, but that is how I describe it.

And here are my least favorite. Hated J. Lo's dress with that neckline, HATED everything about Meryl Streep's dress, and I hated Emma Stone's huge bow around the neck. It could have hung her.

But overall I thought the dresses overall this year were better than years past. And here are just a few more thoughts from Oscar Night.

  • Angelina Joli looks disgustingly thin. And what was with her stance?

  • Hating Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz's presentation of an Oscar.

  • Loved Chris Rock's presentation. Zebra's and Donkey's. Hilarious.

  • "Millionaires giving other millionaires golden statues." Favorite joke of the night.

  • Hated that Meryl Streep won best actress about as much as I hated her dress.

  • Loved the Cirque Du Soleil performance.

  • Hated the crudeness of Kristen Wigg and Maya Rudolph's oscar presentation. I may be the minority, but I don't necessarily think to be funny you have to be crude.

  • And on that note LOVED Billy Crystal, who validates that. He was awesome. He did such a good job and is just naturally funny. So much better than last year.

And thats my Oscar Recap.

Until next year.

De-Dread

Oakley had dread locks since July. She loved them. We loved them. The maintenance? Not so much. We did dread locks in the beginning because we thought it would be a low maintenance hair style. But we were wrong. Her hair got a little crazy near the end.

And the dreads started growing together.
Into one big mess.

So, we started combing out the dreads. With each dread, we got a hair ball just like this. We are surprised she had any hair left.

And now she looks like this.

Who would have thought her hair could look like this again.

Now she loves her long Rapunzel hair. And now we get to experiment with a lot of different hairstyles. I gotta get my french braiding skills back.

And a big thanks to Brooke who worked for HOURS on getting her hair undone. She would still be a mess if it weren't for her.

Shoppin' at the Outlets

Trent took the boys snowshoeing up to the cabin over the weekend, so us girls had a girl day and headed to Park City for some shopping. And lets just say there were some pretty dang good deals.

Since the younger girls were so good while we older ones shopped, we finished the trip off with some snacks from Mrs Fields. Can I just say cinnamon sugar pretzel bites? Mm Mm Good.

We had an older lady take our picture to document our amazing outing. She had a hard time getting everyone in. We got a little of Lindsay here and no Izz.

We tried again and got no Lindsay, but all of Izz.
Is it really that hard to see that people are not in the picture?

On the way home the girls took a little nap.

And had a little bit of droolage.

It was a fun morning. Thanks for letting me tag along Linds and Kim! Trent thanks you too. He is only making me take back on small bag of clothes. ;)

The Snow Shoe Experience

Trent being the amazing dad that he is took all five kids snowshoeing by himself last weekend. The kids have been wanting to try out there snow shoes ever since we got them last year and since it finally decided to snow this winter they made a day trip out of it.

I wish I could have been there to see the five cute little bodies hiking up the mountain.

I hink the kids all had a blast....that is until the sled ride down. The girls are not as good at steering and slowing down as the boys. There were a couple of mishaps, but every one made it down to the bottom of the mountain safely...mostly. ;)
One of these days I won't work a Saturday and we can all head out together.

Thanks to Trent for being Super Dad.

Will You Marry Me?

At the previously mentioned party Brooke threw for my kids, Aiden decorated a cookie and made a Valentine for his special Valentine, Liliana.

He even picked out the perfect candied heart to go on it.

And he made the Valentine complete with hanging apparatus so she could hang it up and look at it all day. (Her mom informed me it is actually hanging on her bed.)
I actually would love it if these two ended up together. She is so cute and I LOVE her family. They would make some good in laws. And how cute would that love story be?

V Day

I should title this post good intentions, but I had to show somewhere that it was in fact Valentines Day at our house.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't really like Valentine's Day. I have a hard time getting motivated or finding the time to really celebrate. However, at the beginning of February I thought of all these things I could do to make it a fun holiday. But alas, none of them came to pass.

I had planned to take a pic of my kids, photoshop a cute little V Day saying, and send them to the Great/Grandparents, but instead my kids went snowshoeing with Trent.

I had planned to mail Valentines to the cousins with goodies and fun, but we barely managed to have the kids write their names on their Valentines for school. And now I have a lot of extra candy at my house....

I planned on waking up on time and getting a head start on the day to make sure I could get everything done, but ended up working most the night which resulted in sleeping in and NOT getting things done.

I planned on making Trent his favorite meal of rib eye steak, potatoes, and rolls, but had to make 100 mini donuts for Oakley's class and do an activity for Aiden and Andrew's class party.

I then thought we might be able to go out to eat as a family to celebrate, but instead we ordered Chinese take out and ate at home.

I planned on doing the activity with my kids that I did in Aiden and Andrew's class after dinner, but instead I worked and the kids caught a 3D show.

I planned on being a super mom and super wife, but instead barely survived the day.

But as I look back on my day it actually was perfect for our family.

And besides, Brooke made up for my lack of funness with a superb Valentines Party on Saturday.

Complete with pizza and heart shaped cups.

Cookie decorating.

And Valentine making.

She finished the night off with goodie bags for all. And during all this Trent and I were relaxing downstairs and enjoying our own night out at Chilis for some delish molten lava cake.

Isn't Brooke amazing?

I bet you all want her as your very own personal basement dweller.

Brooke's Bowling BDay

We went bowling for Brooke's Birthday on Friday. We had a great time. I tore up the lane with a score of 79.

The whole Jensen crew made it to the party, minus the children and the Vegas dwellers. We missed Jake and Candice, but I quite enjoyed not having my kids there.

And one of the only "good" shots I had with my phone.

And to finish the post off-a pic of the girls.

Happy Birthday Brooke!

(And thanks to Jamie who I stole half of the pics from. I no longer comment on blogs, but I do steal pictures from them...)

Stay Out

The boys got sick of the girls going in their room and making it a mess. So, Andrew made this sign for their door. The 2 headed monster is, in fact, Aiden and Andrew's mad faces scaring people away.

Just in case you can't read it.

"Aiden and Andrews room Keep Out. Out. We wont you to stay out. Don't come in. Stay Out."

I think they got their message across.

Running Storage

You know we have been told to have adequate food storage, but around here we go a step further. We have Running Storage.

Enough shoes to last almost 2 years. We are ready for any running disaster that comes our way.

And on a side note, I just found out my So Cal legs increased mileage. Now I have a total of 21.3 miles. I have no moderate or easy runs. Yowza. Good thing I am prepared for just such a disaster eh?

Mini Cheer

On Friday my girls got to do one of their favorite things-Mini Cheer. They look forward to these things all year. And whats better than doing it with friends?

Paige, Izz, Caroline, Morgan, Oakley

The girls did a fabulous job and there was no running around by Paige and Morgan. I guess threats do work sometimes.

And they loved the megaphones they got at the end. Trent and me, not so much.

Just love these 3 girls.

Superbowl Sunday

We had a very low key Superbowl Sunday. We stayed at home and didn't have anyone over. Very unusual for us party animals. However, we still prepared as much food as if we were having a party. Andrew even asked as Brooke and I as we were getting everything ready who was coming over. When we told him no one he asked why we had so much food.

That's a good question Andrew.

Trent spent most of the time downstairs, so Brooke and I hung out on the love seat and made jokes about anything and everything. It was a good time. But it always is with this girl.
None of us enjoyed the end of the game. We were cheering for the Patriots. It is Trent's team and I just think Tom Brady is hot.

Maybe next year Tom.

Playdate

Paige and Morgan have been begging for their friend Grace to come play for months and today was the day. Grace came over for a bit and the girls couldn't have been more excited. And poor Grace was smothered with love the whole time she was here. My girls can't get enough of her.

Hopefully she will want to come back and play, because my girls are already talking about the next time.

And don't you love Oakley's ninja costume? I swear we have girlie things in our house.

I Love to See the Temple

This is the amazing view we have out our kitchen window. I love looking out and seeing the Temple. The sad thing is I can see it out my kitchen window, it is a 2 minute drive from my house, I run around it a few times a week, but I can never seem to "find" the time to go inside it. My motto for my life the past couple years has been the primary song with the lyrics "I love to see the Temple, I'm going there some day." That was my life, I loved looking at it through my window and on my runs and I would always say, I will go again some day.

Well, my friends, that day has arrived. We get to go to the Temple and do a session on Saturday morning. And it is even more special because we get to go through with my Aunt Rauna and Uncle Del and watch them take out their own endowments. I couldn't be happier for them. And thanks to them, I get a good kick off on my goal to attend the Temple more. Can't wait for Saturday!
