So Long My Old Friend

I clean out my closet a lot. I don't have a ton of space for the amount I like to shop, hence my latest spending diet. My rule when cleaning things out is if I haven't worn it in a year its gone. However, my rule hasn't applied to my Dr. Martens. I haven't worn them in 8+ years, but can't seem to part with them either. They remind me of fun times from High School, early college days, hanging with friends, and, most importantly, meeting Trent. I just take them out of the closet, dust them off, and put them back in the corner to be overshadowed by my other more comfortable, stylish shoes. Well, the time has come for us to part ways. Maybe someone can make new memories with them...

So I bid farewell to my friend, the Dr Martens. I will forever remember the style and protection you gave my feet in years past. I hope your journey through the D.I. will be a good one and that you find someone to give you a better life than you've had the past years hiding in the shadows of my closet. Au revoir mon ami!

I have a couple of pairs that I can't seem to part with either (one pair has never even been worn). They are even in my DI pile, but I still haven't taken them in.

I had the same problem getting rid of my dr. martin sandals! It couldn't be that they cost me a whole months pay in high school could it? Good memories!

At least you have the picture to remember them by! ;)

Oh my gosh that is so funny because I have the same exact pair in my closet. I haven't worn them for like 4 years but I just can't part with them. They bring back to many memories of the Dr Marten days!

Wow ~ sounds like everyone has gone through this! Kurtis made me do the same thing early this year to two pairs of DM sandals I had because he said they were smelling up the closet (it probably wasn't far from the truth). But I seriously LOVED those things!

Amy, you are such a good example, if you can do, I can do it! If you are having trouble getting rid of anything else, just call Melissa, she is the pro!

i have at least 3 pairs of DM sandals/shoes in my closet at my parent's house! i was keeping them around to someday give to my nieces...like they would ever want them! they are so CLUNKY, as your picture shows...perfect angle! don't be too quick to give them away...they could make perfect leg weights for working out!;)

Amy,
Hey this is Amy Hedberg, I've looked at your blog off on and on for awhile now and I'm so impressed with you. You're amazing! Anyway I've been wanting to ask you some questions. Someone in my family just found out they're having twins and is freaking out. Would you mind if I e-mailed you? Or if you don't want to put your e-mail out there mine is mrsamyhbrown@gmail.com.
Thanks

Way to go and part with the ol' sandals! I had the exact same pair when Jared and I were dating. They went to Jerusalem with me and I had a hard time parting too! Hopefully you won't miss them too much!
