Into the Garbage

I am starting my healthy lifestyle today. I know I am a month late with the weight loss resolution thing, but thats okay. I lost my will to be healthy during the Holidays and have finally gotten to the point of disgust. I have gained back the weight I lost, plus some. Yuck.

Diets are hard for me. My house is known as the Fat House. I love to make food, feed people, and stuff my face. That doesn't really help in the weight loss department. For example, we had a Superbowl Party yesterday and there was SO much delicious food, that I gorged myself until I couldn't gorge myself anymore...and then I had 2 more oreo truffles...

So, as I was cleaning up last night and this morning I made some tough moves. I threw away ALL the leftover baked cheese dip, I really did. This morning I threw away the last oreo truffle, and now I am throwing away the last of my pie crust cookies. This is difficult for me in 2 ways. First of all I HATE wasting food. Hate it. Second, these things are so ultimately delicious and are way too good for the garbage. But if it is around I have absolutely no self control.

With bad things out of reach and good things in the fridge hopefully, by summer/swimsuit season, I will like my body a little bit better. Here's to veggies, fruits, and a very large decrease in the consumption of treats. Bummer.

Good Job Amy! I'm sure you'll reach your goals in no time.

Yeah!! Good for you...as I sit here eating 7 layer dip from yesterday' party. I've learned I can't deprive myself and be successful. For me it's all about portion control--easier said than done!

Ooooooooooh, this is so hard!! Give yourself a few rewards here and there so you don't feel like your depriving yourself! Have like 1 cookie..not 12 :)

good luck to you! I hate diets too! But I feel so much better when I eat good. It's just too bad it's not more fun!

I completely avoided any superbowl party for that very reason, yummy food. You really do have to get rid of ANY food that is a temptation because who is going to be able to resist all of the delicious food you make?? Oh I miss your cheese dip!!

I feel the same. Right down to gorging at my superbowl party and having leftovers still. Except I didn't throw them away. They're in my fridge. My spinach artichoke dip can't be too bad--it's got veggies! We just won't talk about the cheese and mayo in it.

Seriously ~ I am so with you. It definitely doesn't help that it was all-you-can-eat tacos at our favorite Mexican restaurant tonight....I need your willpower! I need some serious help before summer!

Oh no!!! Not the sacred Cheese Dip. That is self control if I've ever heard of it. I need to do better with my eating too. If there is temptation around the house, I always eat it. Even if I think I won't, I still do. I'm so proud of you. I think you look great though. No need to diet! Oh, P.S. Thanks a lot for telling me about the churros at Don Pedros. Curse you!!! Those are now my weakness!

Wow, your good. I can throw out a lot of things but not any kind of treat! Good luck I cannot do diets so I don't even attempt them. My forced diet is having no money to ever eat out or entertain but it's helped...a little I think... so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Way to go! That's a hard step to make! And I totally feel for you! Do yourself a favor and reward yourself every once in a while with a cookie or something.

I wish you luck. You have more self control than me. Someday there will be calorie-free Reeses Peanut Butter Cups....

what a hard thing to do. But I'm sure by June you'll be happy. I saw the comment your husband left and I totally agree. You can't go cold turkey. That never ends well. BUt allowing yourself one instead of 6 is a good option.

I second the motion for me over here. Swimsuit season is way to close and vegies and fruits are the new fare. I'm proud of you for throwing it away. Junk food or too much food is worse trash when it lingers too long on our bodies. When we use our bodies as trash we feel like trash and everyone around us suffers! I'm proud of you. I'm sure you look much better than you feel but that's not the point.
