To the races...

Today is the day I start training for a 10K. Now I know this distance is a mere 1/4 of the total distance that other people in this family usually run, but it is a lot for me. You see, I haven't done anything too physical in the past 4 years. I have been having babies and been either pregnant or breastfeeding since spring 2004! So, I have to start out slow and work up to longer distances. However, unlike others in the fam, I have no desire to run a full marathon. Anyways, we are looking for volunteers to come up to Bear Lake and watch the Jensen clan so Trent and I can run our races. It should be fun to watch the races and then go play in the lake all day. By the way, Trent is running the full marathon and his total time for running 26 miles will probably be shorter than my time running just 6 miles! I am pretty pathetic when it comes to running.

Good for you Amy, I in the same boat (minus 2 years), feeling like I've been sedentary for 2 years. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to run a marathon, 10K is a good distance. Good luck! I'd totally help watch anyone's kids who wants to run, although I'd probably want to run as well. Who's going to watch them for you to train?

Pretty pathetic indeed. Only six miles? Weak. Maybe one of these days when I can walk up my stairs with out running out of breath I will train with you. On the other hand.... Nah... I'll just come watch.

I'm so jealous. Why can't I be motivated like you? I attempted a 5k once and only made it half way through. Embarrassing. I'm counting down the days until I can start to workout again. We'll see how long that lasts... I'd love to join you guys in at Bear Lake. Me and little one can tag along.

Good luck! When do you have time to go running?

That is great - I don't even think I could run 1/2 mile now if my life depended on it. I am so out of shape! Great work - that is a good goal.
