Santa Baby!

Saturday night we had the annual Smith Christmas Party. The highlight, of course, was Santa. My kids were so excited. Andrew was the first one called up and after Aiden saw his Racer X car that Santa had given him he was THAT much more excited. He wouldn't stop smiling while he waited for his turn. The boys loved their cars and played with them for the rest of the party. Oakley on the other hand was more excited about the chocolate that Mrs Clause gave her than her gift. I guess I should have just got her a Hershey Bar? Paige and Morgan didn't really know what was going on, but they didn't seem to mind Santa at all. They just carried their unopened presents around most the night. We all had a good time, but we did miss Dad....which brings me to the second part of my post:

Trent opted to skip out on the family party and stay home by himself and have his own little football party. The Florida and Alabama game just so happened to be during my family party and.....football won.....this time. Trent said he couldn't remember the last time he was home by himself, so I am glad he was able to have some time away from kids and enjoy a GREAT game without constant interruptions. Now he has the Sugar Bowl to look forward too!!!! Go UTES!

I think Fletcher from Liar Liar says it best, "I'm such a $#!+!"

Hopefully Amy would quote Audry and say, "Your not a bad father when you show up."

Although my kids are probably eternally scared from their fathers indiference, it was a very relaxing night and the game was awesome from beginning to end.

I honestly can't remember the last time I was so free from responsibilities. Thanks Amy for not making a big deal about this one.

I'm glad you were there with your kids. It was a great party and just think, if you wouldn't have gone, the numbers would have been VERY few.

what great odds you've beaten...getting five non-santa-screamers! we'll find out on friday how mine do (we totally slacked and didn't take them to see santa last year) i love that you let trent opt-out...and that he recognizes how cool you are for doing it!

Wow! You are such a good blogger! I don't check it for a few days and I have sooo much to catch up on! I love the group shot at festival of the trees.... there are a lot of you guys! Your kids are darling and I love hearing about your Hoard. Since Trent took an afternoon off.... I say that he takes them all for a day and you head to the spa :)

Wow ~ I am really impressed that none of your kids cried when they saw Santa. It seems like that always happens. Tell Trent not to feel bad ~ Kurtis would have totally done that same thing. He has gotten a lot better than when I first met him, but watching football games ranks pretty high on his list too :)

It looks like my recent decision to miss my first ever family event was a quick trip to the typical male stereotype. You work for years to build a reputation for being a good dad and in one evening it erased...nice!

only by those who don't understand the intensity of caring for five young children...those of us who have just a taste know that being an absentee father is not even an option so we celebrate your short-lived break. you might not get another for months!!

The Santa pictures are so cute!! I love that Santa gives them a real present instead of a candy cane. I guess Oakley would have just been fine with the candy. She is so adorable!
